Opportunity to Study and Research on Structural Analysis and Optimization in the School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Sejong University South Korea
The Structures and Design Optimization Laboratory at Sejong University in Seoul, Korea has an immediate opening for an MSc or Ph.D. candidate. The course will start on September 1, 2019.
The main research area of the SDO lab covers static/dynamic structural analysis by using finite element method and structural optimization. For optimization, not only industrial applications but also methodologies such as topology and shape optimization has been actively researched in the lab. Apart from structural mechanics, the optimization may involve other physics such as acoustics or wave propagation and its accompanying experiments. Thus, students who have an interest in these fields are encouraged to apply for the position.
Research topics
- Finite element analysis of linear or nonlinear static/dynamic structural responses
- CAE-based optimization: topology and shape optimization
- Wave analysis and sensor design for NDE (nondestructive evaluation)
- Machine learning for structural analysis and optimization
Preference
- Students having high records in solid mechanics, and finite element analysis
- Students experienced in the programming language such as Matlab, C or Fortran
The MSc candidate will be financially supported with 800,000KRW/month including taxes and tuition fees will be fully supported. For a Ph.D. candidate, 1,000,000KRW/month and tuition fees will be funded (the amount of financial support can be slightly adjusted depending on the financial situation of the lab.)
Interested candidates shall forward their CVs to Professor Gang-Won Jang (gwjang@sejong.ac.kr)
